St. Charles (aka Dovetail)
Early Archaic (9500-8000) B.P.
The Dovetail points while rare in this area are well known by collectors.  These much sought after points were named for the (dovetail) shape of their base by collectors and were previously divided into the Plevna (the resharpened beveled form) and Dovetail unbeveled  first stage  form.  In reality they are the same type.  These points were later renamed as St. Charles for the site from which they were first described in archeological investigations.
