Pinetree, Pintree Corner Notched, and Palmer.
Early Archaic (8000-5000) B.P.
The  Pinetree points are a collectors favorite here in  East Tennessee. This some what rare find is beloved for its form and beauty.  The name for this point was taken from the resemblance  of  its shape to that of a pinetree.  The following details should help you Identify them.
Characteristics:
SIZE :  These are medium,  to Large points with most being around 2". Palmer is less than 1,1/2"
KEY FEATURES: Corner notched ,spade shaped convex to near straight sided blades. Flaking is of high quality percussion type with flakes extending to the center of  the point to form a medium ridge.  The base can be straight concave or convex, bi-furcated,or articulated. .
THICKNESS:  Thin  to Medium
SIMILAR TYPES:  Kirk stemmed, Kirk Corner notched, Dovetail, Decuater, Big Sandy
FLAKING:  Archaic:  Excellent parallel flaking  with long strikes to the center of the blade most have serrations.

KEY FEATURES: Side notched spade shaped, convex  to near straight sided blades. Flaking is of high quality percussion type with flakes extending to the center of  the point to form a medium ridge.  The base can be straight concave or convex, bi-furcated,or articulated.

KEY FEATURES: Identical to the Pintree except of smaller size,.  These points are typically  1,1/2" or less.
